Rainham gives a renderer three completely different jobs. The 1930s semis along New Road and Upminster Road South are almost all original pebbledash, now sixty or seventy years past its best — hollow in patches, cracked around the openings, and holding water against the brick behind it. Taking that off properly and re-rendering in silicone is the single biggest change you can make to one of these houses, in looks and in warmth. Then there are the older cottages and the terraces around Rainham Village and the church, where the substrate is soft and needs a lime-friendly approach rather than a hard sand-and-cement coat that will crack the brick. And at Beam Park there is new-build work — clean substrates, tight tolerances, and render that has to match a developer's spec exactly. Add the estuary exposure and every one of them lives or dies on the same details: strip back to something sound, bead the edges, mesh the weak spots, and set a bell-cast so the water throws clear of the wall instead of running down it. We survey first, price the whole job in writing with the scaffold in, and guarantee the work.

A typical three-bed semi is about a week on site once the scaffold is up — two to three days to strip and prepare, then rendering and finishing. Repairs and single elevations are usually two to three days.
Not if the preparation is right. Most cracking comes from rendering onto an unsound substrate, skipping beads at the openings, or using a hard sand-and-cement mix on a wall that moves. We prepare back to something solid, bead and mesh the movement points, and use a flexible silicone render.
Yes — and on most 1930s houses that is the right call. Rendering straight over failing dash traps the problem underneath. Removal, disposal and making good are all included in the quoted price.
Silicone render is through-coloured, so the colour runs all the way through and never needs painting. Off-whites, creams and light greys are the usual choices round here; we will bring samples to hold against the brickwork.
Yes — guaranteed in writing, and we are fully public-liability insured. Scaffold is priced in from the start, so there is no surprise bill halfway through.
